nice upgrade for the ranch model 7.62x39. issue arrises with the special tool that you can buy to aid in installation. ill be honest. its an imperfect tool and process. the tool will easily fall out of the firing pin tension holding position and is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to fix once this occurs. I didn't want to damage my firing pin and assembly. I took it to a gun smith and was told "he couldn't do it and it couldn't be done". I took it to another, younger gun smith and he fixed it in less than 5 minutes. so, was it worth it, yes. was it fool proof, no. bottom line, I'd buy it again, but you should be prepared to need a proficient gun smith if your "special tool" slips out of the assembly during replacement. several guys on Youtube show you how to do this. none, show you what to do if your tool slips out. its still a good little novice project. good luck and try not to swear too much when you stab your fingers and hand trying to regain the special tool position during the process. Handle went in like a dream. Definitely recommended this for your gen1 ruger american. I paired it with a badger ordinace mini bolt knob and it looks and functions great! Definitely recommended getting the installation tool with it, it's cheap and made the whole process a breeze.

Gave me enough length to make the action seem like a different one. Can operate with one finger while maintaining cheek weld.

Both were machined nicely and fit perfectly. A lot more than I wanted to spend but they do look nice.
