Action Rod for Ruger Precision & American Rifles

This rod will slip directly into the action of all short action Ruger Precision and Ruger American models. This rifle action rod provides overall support for those needed barrel changes, giving the user the ability to swap the barrel with ease.

The rifle action rod has a flat mating surface that easily grips in a standard bench vise. On the opposite end, it has precision-matched external lugs. These lugs mate to the inside of the receiver at the exact spot of needed support.

This rifle action rod eliminates any need to grip the outside of the barrel, which could potentially mar the surface finish. It also removes unnecessary stress on the receiver.

Machining is of the highest standard. The rod fit in the action with little to no slop.
The two machined flats allow firm positioning while removing action. You should apply heat to the action propane only until it starts to sputter out the thread locking stuff used by Ruger. The nut is supremely tight otherwise.
The fitment of the bolt into the action where the bolt lug raceways are is a tight fit, very little movement allowing a good positioning of subsequent handguards if handguard nut requires a small amount of timing.
It is a fine product and a great addition to anyones tool box.

The rod is machined well. Tight fit, little to no slop with bolt engagement. The flat spots help hold the action firmly while in a vise.

I was trying to decide between this and a barrel vice to change the barrel on my RPR. I chose this and glad I did. Worked great to hold the receiver while I popped loose and later torqued the barrel nut. I used some old aluminum vice blocks to hold the new barrel while I set the headspace. Overall this made changing the barrel on my RPR a fairly painless process.

A "must have" for any RPR owner wishing to do their own barrel R&R. Had no problem removing the existing barrel nut and after setting head space, this action rod keeps the action from turning while the barrel nut is being torqued down.
